Sylvia Gadsden

broker

Sylvia (Ngāti Tūwharetoa) is a seasoned broker at Frank Risk, bringing almost two decades of comprehensive experience in the insurance industry. She embarked on her insurance career in 2006, managing claims for one of New Zealand’s leading fire and general insurers. This foundational role provided her with in-depth insights into the intricacies of insurance claims and client advocacy.

In 2016, we were lucky to have Sylvia join the Frank Risk team.

Her legal background, with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws (BA/LLB) from Victoria University, equips her with the expertise and meticulous attention to detail necessary to design comprehensive insurance and risk management programs tailored to her client's unique needs. She has also completed the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services, further solidifying her knowledge in the field.

As a registered Financial Adviser, Sylvia is committed to providing transparent and client-focused advice. Her extensive experience across various facets of the insurance sector ensures that clients receive well-rounded and informed guidance.

Sylvia’s dedication to professional excellence was recognised in 2022 when she was awarded the NZbrokers Jim Harris scholarship, valued at $16,000 and covering the costs of attending the Institute for Strategic Leadership’s Step Up Programme in Queenstown. This recognition underscores her commitment to continuous learning and her significant contributions to the industry. She is also currently furthering her education by studying at the University of Auckland, completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology. Undertaking this additional qualification will enhance her understanding of human behaviour and decision-making, adding further depth to her client relationships and advisory approach.

Sylvia is very involved in the local community. She is a weekly volunteer at her local school’s KickStart Breakfast Club, which primarily aims to feed young students so they can concentrate on learning and create better futures for themselves. Supporting children who need it in a safe and encouraging environment so they can have a great start to their day is something Sylvia is very passionate about. She also knits vests & cardigans for the Neonatal Trust, which helps clothe premature babies. What an amazing individual and a true role model she is! Sylvia is also an avid sports fan and regularly attends the gym, including being a reliable & consistent attendee of our Frank Monday Bootcamp sessions.
